The managerial skills that Rayla Carlacio uses in her profession at Ferguson Showrooms – handling all the custom builders, designers, and cabinet dealers, she also brings to her charitable work with K2. “My role with K2 is with the planning committee. We recently had a very successful Masquerade Ball that I was instrumental in its completion. Our group has two large events a year to help fund our goals. Since we just finished the fall Ball, we are already starting to plan our next activity, which will be the Spring Fashion Show!”
Rayla became involved eight and a half years ago through Kristen Salcito Sandquist when she was head of Visions of Hope. “Now we are in collaboration with K2 and find that because of this, we can widen the extent of our nonprofit work. It has been beneficial for all concerned! The organizations we were able to help this year were Whispering Hope Ranch, Hacienda Healthcare, the Mwereni Integrated School for the Blind, and what’s closest to my heart, the Arizona Humane Society.”
Rayla Carlacio explains the basis of her volunteer work, “I am so fortunate and blessed to have healthy children, that I am supportive of K2 which lends a hand up to organizations that serve children with special needs. I really feel for the parents of these children who might have difficulty coping with their impairments. And it is my philosophy that when you give, it comes back ten-fold to you!”
I’m also quite involved with my professional organizations, the American Society of Interior Designers and the National Kitchen and Bath association. We have frequent meetings, seminars, and educational opportunities that I support.”
Most of Rayla’s free time is spent with her family. “I can be a real homebody, although that might surprise people since I’m always on the go!” And for someone with little leisure time, when not involved with work, Rayla uses her free hours for her charitable work with K2, which includes some time spent with the Arizona Humane Society.
Once a resident of Las Vegas, Rayla also lived for many years in southern California. “ Then a number of years ago we also lived for a time in Iowa. After that , we were pleased to be able to move to Arizona. I especially love my position with Ferguson as the builder sales manager !” She adds, “Definitely what I like best about Arizona is the WEATHER! And I also really appreciate the beautiful mountains that we can see all around us.”
As their web site explains, K2 Adventures Foundation, Inc. “… has as its mission to collaborate with organizations serving children with special needs. We provide funds that are used for educational enrichment as well as fulfillment through outdoor camps and activities. The goals of K2 Adventures are to make a difference in the lives of children, not just in the United States, but the world.”
