John C. Lincoln Health Foundation Goes for the Gold
By Myra Richman
Everyone has fun at the Gold Ball.
The 38th Annual Night of Gold Ball of the John C. Lincoln Health Foundation Guild was held on Saturday, February 24th at the Camelback Inn--aptly named Una Notte D'Amore.
A cocktail reception was held on the terrace under a beautiful Arizona sunset. Off the terrace the crowd was actively placing bids on some unique auction items, including a helmet signed by dancer/football great Emmitt Smith and a beautiful tiny Yorkshire Terrier.
Seen at the event were Joan & David Lincoln (son of John C. Lincoln), Rich Boals and Kathy Wade.
As soon as guests filed into the dining room, the spirit was felt. The dance floor filled up immediately and there was still a crowd at 11 pm.
A gourmet three-course meal was served while the music and vocals of the Jerry Barnett Orchestra continued. Clever centerpieces donned masks and feathers, and desserts of chocolate masks and gondolas carried out the Italian theme. Paddles were raised generously to fund snack packs for the Desert Mission Food Bank so that they can send food home with schoolchildren who were deprived of sufficient weekend meals.
Lucky couple Lori and Scott Edwards went home with seven silent auction items (including the helmut). Maybe we'll see them next on Dancing With the Stars.
All proceeds will benefit John C. Lincoln's community and health care programs. The Guild GOLD (Giving Others the Lincoln Difference) funding ensures delivery of medical and community services that might otherwise be delayed or financially impossible to provide.
