The Arizona Council on Economic Education's 5th Annual Golf Tournament & Dinner
By Myra Richman
On September 24th, 2007, The Arizona Council on Economic Education (ACEE) held its 5th Annual event at Grayhawk Golf Club, where financial, educational and other Valley businesses and citizens interested in supporting the Arizona Council on Economic Education gathered for a day and evening of fun and sport.
After a day of golf in perfect climate that ended at sundown over the lake, golfers were weary but full of fun and spirit as they bid on select sports auction and high end live auction items--including a 7-day Mexican Riviera Cruise, two tickets to the 2008 Fiesta Bowl, Fiesta Field and corporate tent, jewelry by Molina and Isaac Jewelers. Hot Stix Golf and Taylor Made donated many coveted woods, irons and putters. Settling down to a delicious buffet dinner, the laughter and bidding continued. Ultimate Electronics provided the ultimate raffle item--a 50" LG Plasma Integrated HDTV Flat Panel.
Coined 'Capture the Raptor' for the known challenges the Raptor course presents, this event is also about challenging individuals and organizations to begin and continue supporting ACEE through workshops and distribution of free materials so Arizona students and teachers become effective participants in a global economy.
The mission of ACEE is to help Arizona students develop economic ways of thinking and problem solving that they can use in their lives as knowledgeable consumers, savers and investors, productive members of the workforce, responsible citizens, and informed participants. In 2006, ACEE provided programs, courses and classroom materials to over 2,000 Arizona K-12 teachers so that over 250,000 students could make informed economic choices and financial decisions.
ACEE is an independent, nonprofit 501(c)3 educational organization. For more information call 602-795-3706 or visit www.azecon.org.
