John C. Lincoln 40th Anniversary Night of Gold Ball

By Myra Richman

The John C. Lincoln Health Foundation Guild held its 40th Anniversary Night of Gold Ball on Saturday, February 28th at the new luxurious Sheraton Phoenix Downtown hotel. "Noche de Oro" was the theme for the evening.

Always a first-class event, at 6 pm the evening began with a hosted reception and silent auction. Dinner and dancing followed.  Imported from San Diego, The Fabulous Pelicans entertained the crowd with great music and filled the dance floor for hours.  An interesting touch was the continuous screen shots of photos of attendees from the past 40 years of Night of Gold Ball.  Aside from some of those 70s hair-dos (or don'ts) everyone seemed to be having a great time.

The silent auction items were exciting and plentiful. The first mammogram at their new Breast Care Center brought $1,400 at the live auction, and the raffle raised another $19,000 for the 2009 Harley-Davidson Cross Bones bike (and safety helmet), designed by the grandson of Harley-Davidson founder William A. Davidson.

The annual Night of Gold Ball is the primary fundraiser for the John C. Lincoln Health Foundation Guild, with proceeds going directly to benefit Guild GOLD (Giving Others the Lincoln Difference), a program that awards grants to help meet a wide variety of health care and social needs in our community.   This year’s Ball will help fund a variety of projects at John C. Lincoln Health Network, including an expansion of the Breast Health and Research Center.
