Maricopa Health Foundation's 2009 CopaBall Gala
On Saturday evening, October 3, 2009, 500 people attended one of the Valley’s most exciting, elegant and fun black-tie events, the 2009 CopaBall, at the Westin Kierland Resort.
Savoring the view and the cool breeze from the terrace at sundown made the evening even more special.
The CopaBall benefits the programs of the Maricopa Health Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Maricopa Integrated Health System.
Two of the most compassionate and well-deserving community members were honored for their outstanding service: Anne McNamara, PhD., RN, recieved the Joey Ridenour, R.N. Nursing Excellence Award, and Andy Myers, M.D., received the J. Kipp Charlton, M.D., Physician Excellence Award. How privileged are we to have them in our community!
The stars of the evening were Christian and his beautiful wife Stephanie Nielson. "Thank you for saving my dear wife and me," said Christian. The Nielson's were in a fiery airplane crash August 18, 2008 and treated by outstanding members of the burn unit's MIHS team. Everyone was excited to see and talk to them, and to hear about their progress and remarkable recovery.
The evening ended in a 'blue environment' with desserts and coffee, mingling and dancing to crooner Guy Pennacchio. If you closed your eyes, you'd think 'ole blue eyes was back.
The mission of Maricopa Health Foundation is to provide philanthropic support of Maricopa Integrated Health System’s patient care programs, medical education, research, and capital improvement projects that advance patient welfare and improve health in the community for the Valley’s underserved.
