The Partnership for a Drug-Free America, Arizona Affiliate's Second Annual Dinner
By Myra Richman
The cowboy hats and denim were out in full force at Monterra at WestWorld on Friday, February 13, 2010, where 220 guests gathered to eat, play and honor two deserving supporters of the Partnership for a Drug-Free America, Arizona affiliate.
Cocktails and hors d'oeuvres were served on the terrace, and guests purchased fun money and enjoyed the many activities, including a shooting gallery, and an OK Corral fortune teller. Dinner was served inside the restaurant and awards were presented to two honorees, The Honorable Jan Brewer (represented by Tammy Paz-Combs, Director Governor's Division for Community and Youth Development) and John J. Bouma, chairman Snell & Wilmer, and co-founder of The Partnership's AZ Affiliate.
CEO Leslie Bloom introduced a few board members, who stood and shared several facts with the audience. Emcee Bill Bellis, weather anchor for ABC15, announced that he and his wife are expecting their third child and he wants to keep up with the latest drug trends so he's an informed parent.
Founding chair Tom Ambrose spoke about his career in communications with the Phoenix Suns organization, and prevention of drug abuse starts with communication.
SUBSTANCE ABUSE IS THE COUNTRY'S #1 PROBLEM.
The mission of the Arizona Affiliate of The Partnership for a Drug-Free America is to reduce illicit drug use by encouraging people to live healthy, drug-free lives. Every day, through community-based education, they help save lives by inspiring and empowering Arizonans to join in a united effort to prevent drug use among teens.
